When the staff of The JW Foundation first started thinking about forming The Art of Learning Project we spent a lot of time considering the creation of classroom curriculums focusing on themes from the book, The Art of Learning.

What we discovered from going through this process is that one-size-fits-all curriculums can transform learning from a creative activity that can engage anyone into a set of rote, prescriptive formulas that squelch individual character and unique learning styles.

We found inspiration in the vast number of emails we receive every week from teachers, parents, coaches, athletes and students communicating the exciting nuances of their own Ah-ha moments as they set about integrating The Art of Learning into their work.

It finally struck us - the feedback we receive could guide an organic instructional process through which all of you who are inspired by the book could share innovative, flexible strategies for conveying the principles. What had been missing for us was a way to connect the dots-a place where folks could learn from one another and brainstorm together. This website is that place.

It offers a variety of venues for sharing your stories, lesson plans, insights, and questions. Please send them along—we’d be delighted to read them and, with your permission, post them too.
