The University of Iowa Belin-Blank Center of Gifted Education and Talent Development

IOWA CITY, IA. At the Belin-Blank International Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development, within the University of Iowa’s College of Education, Dr. Clar Baldus has launched a statewide outreach program to share The Art of Learning with undergraduate and graduate level educators and community based teachers, counselors, and administrators working with gifted students. In her class on “The Psychology of Giftedness”, she illustrates the psychological concepts of educational development by using Josh as a case study. She also incorporates the Online Teacher Guides into different writing assignments and strongly believes The Art of Learning  will empower and serve the gifted community as these future educators engage in leadership programs, research, and advocacy.

Dr. Baldus comments on her use of the text,  “I use the The Art of Learning as one of my textbooks for 120 Psychology of Giftedness. This course covers theories of learning, child development, and motivation relative to talent development. Issues unique to the field of gifted education are explored via lecture and small group discussion. This course is open to both undergraduate and graduate students, particularly in education, psychology, or counseling, but may be taken as an elective by students in other fields.”
