BRONX, NY. Larry Spitzer, a social studies, English, and chess club leader at this Title 1 elementary school, will be staging a reception for the 25 5th-grade members of his chess club and their parents. He will present The Art of Learning principles to them, do a walk-through of the The Art of Learning Project website, hold a discussion, and give them copies of the book to read on their own and with their children. Spitzer’s emphasis will be on giving them an understanding of how Josh Waitzkin’s grasp of how to learn is what led him to where he is now.
